The roots of the CBC can be traced to 2007 and the formation of the Chapel Hill Royals 10U baseball team by Coaches Mike Byerley, Kevin Guskiewicz, Ph.D., and Denny Marcin.  The Royals were formed to further the baseball skills of a group of players selected from a Chapel Hill/Carrboro, NC recreational baseball league.  The early philosophy of the coaches was to teach age-appropriate baseball fundamentals to each player along with important life skills such as dedication and commitment.  These values remain core to the CBC to this day.

In 2008 the Chapel Hill Royals fielded an 11U team that played its first full season of competitive youth travel  baseball, primarily in USSSA and AAU
tournaments.  With the completion of the 2008 season, the decision was reached to expand the organization in the Spring of 2009 by fielding teams in additional age groups.  During that season, new teams were formed in the 9U and 10U age divisions and an 11U team, formerly known as the Chargers, joined the organization.  The decision was reached to have the 9U, 10U and 11U teams play under the Chapel Hill Blue Sox banner while the Royals continued in the 12U age bracket.

Based on the success of the 2009 season, it was decided to formalize the structure of the organization and to field all future teams under a common name.  This decision was reached to ensure the continuity of the organization for the benefit of future players, to build a consistent brand image and to pursue a not-for-profit status to help further the organization’s mission.

The Carolina Baseball Club was incorporated in the State of North Carolina in 2009 and the decision was made to field all future teams under the Carolina Blue Sox name.  The CBC currently fields teams in the 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U age divisions.
